Odessa, 28 OCTOBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — Today, 28 October, at Kherson shipyard (Smart Maritime Group) held a ceremonial launching of the specialized vessel «Sea Ant» for the Administration of sea ports of Ukraine, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, October 28, in the press service of the administration of the sea port «Yuzhny».

Due to the design features, multifunctional oil skimmer «Sea Ant» can perform booms installation, support vessel and the bunkering barge fresh water and fuel. Also the ship is designed for fighting fires onshore and located in the waters of the objects and has ice protection ICE 2 (LP2).

Oil skimmer is equipped with modern navigation systems, survival equipment, additional means of elimination of emergency situations, as well as comfortable facilities for crew members. Such versatility of the vessel will allow to save budgetary funds, as well as create an additional 25 jobs.

«Specialists of the Kherson shipbuilding plant has built a unique multi-purpose vessel that will be able to completely replace two existing boats providing services for the sanitary collection in the port «Yuzhny». The ship has ice class and the class of tow that will allow us to continue delivering services to our customers at any time of the year, but also to perform in-port work the needs of offshore and third-party organizations», — said, speaking at the solemn meeting the head of administration of the sea port «Yuzhny» Maxim Shirokov.

The press service reminded that the tender for the construction of the ship, oil skimmer design HM-440, was announced August 12, 2015. The winner was «Smart Maritime group», which includes the Kherson shipbuilding plant, on the basis of and the capacity that had been building. The work was carried out from 24 November 2015.

REFERENCE: The length of the vessel «Sea Ant» is 22,2 meters, width — 8.6 meters, a displacement of 265 tons, the height — of 1.21 m. The ship can reach speeds up to 4 knots, pulling force 8 tons, draught stern – 2.30 meters, width of water surface of 20 meters. Performance of fire protection systems of the vessel is 400 cubic m/hour on water and 100 cubic m/hour on the foam. NMS can operate in the thin maltobiose ice thickness up to 55 cm.

Electric plant of the ship is represented by two auxiliary diesel generators of the company «Volvo-Penta», electrical power of 62 kW. System for the collection and storage of petroleum products includes a device for collecting oil spills from water surface, oil collecting device of the type «Multi Skimmer LMS» is a floating skimmer, removable tanks for petroleum products with a volume of 30 cubic meters.

Kherson shipyard was founded in 1951 as the main shipyard of commercial shipbuilding in the former USSR and currently is considered one of the leading shipbuilding and ship-repairing plants in Ukraine. During its more than half-century history of the factory gained a reputation of a reliable partner.
