KHERSON, 02 NOVEMBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — In January-October the total turnover of stevedoring companies operating on the territory of Kherson sea port amounted to 3 million 24,96 thousand tons, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, November 02, in the press-service of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority».

In a press-service reported that according to operational data, the total cargo turnover at the port for 10 months reached 3 million 24,96 thousand tons, which amounted to 92.3% compared to January-October 2015.

Liquid cargoes during this period, the port handled 137,33 thousand tons (109.6% of the indicator of January-October 2015); bulk dry cargo — 2 million 355,68 thousand tons (101,9%); unitized cargo — 531,95 thousand tons (63.5 %).

REFERENCE: Kherson sea port was founded in 1778 along with a shipyard and a fortress which had become a base for future Black Sea fleet. In 1901, after 30 years associated with dredging operations, the port opened again, and Kherson was one of the most important ports exporting Ukrainian grain.

The port is located on the right Bank of the Dnieper river, 15 kilometers off the estuary. The approach to the port is carried out by the fairway passing through Rvach river, Olkhoviy sleeve of the Dnieper and the Dnieper itself. Navigation in port lasts all year round.
