Odessa, 24 JANUARY 2017, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — The border guards of the Southern regional office of State Border Guard Service (SBGS) stated that during 2016 was fully provided reliable protection in their jurisdiction's state borders, sea and airspace of Ukraine, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

This was announced today, January 24, during a press conference, by temporarily acting head of the sector of media relations of the Southern regional management Border Service of Ukraine Aleksandr Yakovenko.

According to A. Yakovenko, for 2016, the guards of the Southern regional office increased the performance for the detection of weapons, ammunition and drugs.

The staff of the Odessa border detachment passed through the state border of Ukraine more than 1 million people and more than 63 thousand vehicles.

During the border control officers of the border guard detained 400 illegal migrants.

Identified 60 people with fake passports, 1.4 thousand — with invalid passports.

Also on the site of the Southern management introduced new technology tools and developments. In particular, according to the head of sector, effective use of unmanned aerial vehicles for the protection of the state borders allowed to hold 22 people.

Another 258 violations of the law were identified with the help of optical-electronic surveillance.
