The memory of Holocaust victims honored in Odessa

Odessa, 27 JANUARY 2017, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — Mourning ceremony on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was held in the square in Odessa Prokhorovsky, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

According to the press service, the mourning ceremonies on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day held today around the world. January 27 were released prisoners of one of the largest Nazi concentration camps — Auschwitz.

The Chairman of regional Council Anatoly Urbansky together with the leadership of the administration and the city Council, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the public laid wreaths and flowers to the memorial of the memorial sign «Road of Death» in the Prokhorovsky Park. After a memorial prayer in memory of the victims, those present lit candles.

A. Urbansky expressed deep condolences to the families of all those killed by the Nazis during the Second World war and said: «Millions of victims — the price of human cruelty, irresponsibility and manic desire to dominate the world. At the same time, this is a lesson for the current generation that needs to know the whole truth about one of the greatest tragedies of mankind. Cruelty motivated by ethnic and ideological hatred is unacceptable in today's society».
