Three London Marathoners will run 1000 miles through 9 European countries, starting from Potemkinskaya Stairs. Three friends are to run 39 marathons across Eastern Europe in 33 days to battle child trafficking.
“‘Run for Love 1000’ is a campaign to raise funds for Love146, a charity that gives care and hope to trafficked children, and to raise awareness of the scale of human trafficking across Europe. At the heart of the project is a 1000 mile run from Odesa to Dubrovnik”, head of PR company Sigma Bleyzer Marina Shcherbakova noted.
Tom Stancliffe, Guy Hacking and Rob Martineau will run 1000 miles in 33 days (the equivalent of 39 marathons) across nine nations in Eastern Europe. Runners will carry all supplies (clothes, sleeping equipment, medical) on their backs. For the most part runners will be sleeping rough in villages off the road. Runners will be navigating and crossing borders unsupported.
The London trio plan to raise £150,000 to help trafficking charity Love146 open Britain’s first residential trauma recovery centre for some of the 300 children brought here each year.
